get ready to rock

Given my love for BTO I think someone must have already suggested "Takin' Care of Business" so I won't suggest it, but BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive) does have another song that rocks even harder "You ain't seen nothing yet." I would like this to be added to the Manos' list.

I was really surprised, when I saw BTO in concert (the second time) they literally played "Takin' Care of Business" three times. Once to open the concert. The second at midnight (it was New Years Eve), and the third to close the concert, but "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" could have been played just as much.

Of course, I should also add: "Let it ride," "Roll on Down the Highway," and "Hey You" by BTO as they also rock really hard. Really I celebrate the whole collection, but I just wanted the music record to show that my picks draw heavily from the BTO fountain.

That was the best show ever. My favorite part was when you tried to buy the drummer's shirt. He proceeded to tell you that they were special shirts.

Praise Peg!!! In case you haven't noticed, Steven you come from a long lineage of those who feel food, and mass quantities by the way is synonymous with a guarantee of good health. So, to show solidarity with your heritage, keep Peg pumping....I love you so.

you saw them two times? was that they're only two concerts ever?

that reminds me of the time when me danny, mary and your baby sister saw boyz II men with en vogue at the fort (thats fort mcdowell casino) and they opened AND closed with mowtown philly.

i'd also like to say that danny knew every word to pretty much every en vogue song.

love you and miss your face.

Steve,

Erica and I have been praying for you everyday that you will receive the strength of body, mind, and spirit you need to return to wholeness.

Just think about all the great stuff you will be able to enjoy again soon...running shirtless in the sun and eating double bacon cheeseburgers. Maybe some bow hunting and Iron Eagle movies with John Rocker?

Let me know when you want some company, and we'll take a break from the gloom of Seattle and venture down to sunny AZ.

Hi Baby,

I am not much interested in football so I thought I would take this time to write to you. I saw you Dad today and we watched the movie that Grif made. I don't think that I laughed so much since Poppie died. I told Bean that they should be looking for an acting school or playwriting college for Grif. He has too much talent in the arts. While Bean and I were talking I could hear Grif praticing
the piano, and Bean told him to get his accordion and play for me. He played some great tunes, and Bean said he's had one lesson. I don't think he got that talent from the Manos'. However Poppie did play the violin. I hope you gots a few laughs watching your Uncle Bean running in the snow in a Bear costume.

Well I have no words of wisdom tonight, just remember tomorrow is a day God gave to us, let us rejoice and be glad.

Love you forever!

Kisses and hugs to Jen...

Wasn't that also the concert where you bragged to the drummer that you saw him in Seattle, and he proceeded to tell you he wasn't in the band then?
On a related note, have you seen Flight of the Conchords? Great show about 2 New Zealanders in a band. They have one (and only one) fan who goes to their shows named Mel. You're the Mel for BTO.

What? How about "This Beat Goes On (Switching to Glide)" The "Switching To Glide" part just takes it to that next level.

Please don't think I'm not keeping up because I'm not posting. I just can't figure this f-ing thing out but once a month or so...

My friend
I wish you a detour from Ellensberg this coming 5th week, heading to Seattle and look forward for the day when you will tell us how you like the city.
I chose an American poem this time for you:

The Road Not Taken
Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Hi Steve,

I can't really keep up with the music. In fact, I usually don't even know who is singing what on the radio, but I will share one of my favorites.... Brian used to make fun of me for monitoring the appropriateness of music on team road trips because I secretly loved any thing by Snoop Dog. Yes, unbelievable I know, but Gin and Juice is a pretty good tune to relax to...

Hey Steve

I lost a good sum of money tonight, but that’s the story of my life. I did wear my go hawks t-shirt, (which you designed) as ragged as it has gotten. One of my fondest memories is all of us at the pizza place around Seattle u. I was not even a freshmen and you treated me liked I belonged. I will never forget that.

thank you

Dude here...

1.Oregon Trail: not to offend anyone, but i kicked arse at that game. I always left as a poor farmer(i.e. less sh#@ to carry in your wagon)
and i never ''bought'' food, I bought bullets
and I killed buffaloes(sorry buff) whenever a wagon wheel broke.

And if you can't fjord a river, you don't belong in the northwest.

2.Songs: Hells Bells of course, but when you get out of this one steve, you will realize that "fat bottomed girls" really do make the rockin' world go round.

-"you never even called me by my name" by David Alan Coe because Steve,
the cavalry "never minded standing..in the rain"

3.Dominic Draye will be voting for Hillary Clinton, why? he truly wants 30 yrs of dual-family rule!!

3a. Now we finally know what was also in Paula's water bottles at practice(now we also know why the dude was always so relaxed watching ellie. jokes)

4.Will someone please tell the American Dollar to harden the F*&^ Up, i'm getting killed over here in the big Down Under with exchange rates

5.So, steve, does all this ''cancer'' stuff mean i can finally go on a run with you and drop you?

Thanks for the description of the dynamics of digestion under the influence of chemo and radiation. Sounds very pleasant. Alas, my breakfast sits half eaten on my coffee table. I should have heeded your warning.
As if you needed anything else to make you sick to your stomach, I just saw a Hillary add in which she again brought up the thirty five years of experience. I wonder how long it's going to be before she tries to convince the American public that she's, "...always been a Giants fan."
It's encouraging to hear that you're excited to be able to eat without all the difficulty. May I suggest Dale Jr.'s KFC Diet (I eat what I want.)? I think your first meal should be a Mexican hot dog from Francisco's. Muy sabroso!
See you tomorrow.

Steve,

I hereby rescind everything nice I said about this blog. The Dude's comments of early this morning illustrate the reckless rumors that can spring into being only in the lawlessness of cyberspace. To set the record straight: my affinity for 30 years of dual-family rule will find its expression in a write-in for Jeb.

AZ looked pretty good during the Superbowl last night. Of course, when you’re watching from Philly, Purgatory looks pretty good . . . which brings us back to your week just completed. I really wish there was more any of us could do. Hang in there.

So hard to leave you last night Steven, but it was good to see you rockin' out to BTO earlier in the day, John Travolta style, even if it was from the confines of the couch.

Alright, my nephew loves my all-time Favorite band BTO. Steve, Ruth and I are praying for you daily, and we even had you added to our churches Prayer List. Glad to see your so active. Keep charging on Hollywood, we love you very much.

My hit for today was Lifehouse -First time. Have you seen the snow on the Catalinas? I was coming back home from school and I was in awe. At the same time, in the west it was a gorgeous sunset and just few hours before a huge rainbow was over the entire city. No ofense Phoenix, Seattle and all the others but Tucson rocks!

So, I am watching CNN Asia and they are reporting on the US economy.....made me think of you....not that I needed a reason.

Hope Super Tuesday proves to be true for you too....

Oh and I think we will have to make a date for burritos when I get back and all this is over for you....I am counting down the days till I can taste one again and probably not as fast as you are counting the days till you are without Peggy. I was hoping it could be Don Jose, but I hear that is a no go. Maybe some...damn I am drawing a blank on the name of the place on what is it, 7th street or something. Whatever, either way we celebrate!

Love you

Ellen's post about Rolibertos (I think that is the Mexican place on 7th St she was referring to) made me think about Sara's and the beach. Can't wait to be there this year with you feeling 100% lazy as all of you runners hit the boardwalk long before Danny and I have even seen the light of day. That time will be here before you know it.... Love you.

Aunt Mary said...

Hey Sweetie,
When I saw Mary's mention of Mission Beach, I literally smiled to myself. It is so important to have something to look forward too, and and I don't think there is a spot in the world where we as a family have had more fun. Watching the cardardies play cards and marvelling at the colorful language that seemes to accompany each game, or Mary mixing drinks with whatever she finds handy, and you can't forget Amie and Lindsay lying on the beach, Cosmos's in hand wondering who has real ones and who doesn't. And of course, to watch the infamous duo of Patrick and Ted as they display the true meaning of sportsmanship in their quest for yet another title in over the line at lifeguard tower 11.

I look so forward to witness all of the above this summer, but most importantly, to watch Seattle Universities Student Athlete of the Year declare the boardwalk his own, with his dad about 3 strides behind him.

I love you so, so much...And give Jenny the biggest kiss ever!!!

Hi Baby Doll,
Sorry, I haven't posted, but Mother Teresa sent me on another journey for the last couple of days. I woke up to three homeless folks sleeping on our back patio, and there was actually ice on their sleeping bags. As you might of guessed, one of the homeless, was no other than my love, Torrence.

So yesterday, I cooked, fed, washed clothes, gave Torrence kisses on his cheeks, and took him to the thrift store to buy him a few things. He met up with a nice girl (french and beautiful and really sweet) and another guy, and they are going to be hitch hiking and hopping or jumping freight trains with an ultimate destination of Idaho.

It was so nice to have him home for a while. He was very sorry to hear about you, and was going to post a comment, but dedcided to call you later. As I was driving him and his friends out to Queen Creek (they explained they get more money and rides by Wal-Marts outside of town), to Wal-Mart, he started imitating Michael and had me laughing....of course he had a 40 on his lap.

I had a hard time dropping him off, he is such a joy. But I did have to read certain phrases from Mother Teresa about serving the poor a couple of times in my head so I would treat him as a guest and not as a homeless, poor dirty, smelly, homeless person. As I was fying bacon and eggs, he came up to me, and I did tell him that he had to take a shower and wash his hair befor breakfast. Other than that, no lectures.

So, for now, no words of wisdom, but I can't promise that tonight, I might come across a Mother Teresa pearl of wisdom.

Kisses and hugs to Jenny!

Love you forever,
Aunt Lynnie

Speaking of mission, I think that imaging some of the character's, such as "Tumblie", could make you smile. Also, "Peggy", your tube, sounds like she would be a surly waiter at the boll weevil. There is a reference to mission beach everywhere. I love you, and can't wait to win the OTL tournemant this year.

Hi Steven,
It's Thursday morning and I should be cleaning house and changing beds, but that all seems like going through motions that don't mean a damn thing. I think about you all day and wondering how your spirits are holding up. I wrote you the other day, but true to form I can't see it on your blog. I asked if you saw the Griffin tape.. Lynn and I couldn't stop laughing. I think you will be surprised at how big he is. He is taller than I am and such a great kid (just like his sister). Are you still drinking ensure? if so put some icecream in it. I've been thinking what I could send down this week. Any suggestions? I know the lip problem is a biggie. If you can keep it moist so the sores don't
scab and bleed it might help, but I bet you knew that. Did you and Rye Bread win the OTL tournament last year?

I'm going over to Mary's for dinner tonight. Andrew Novak and Ted will be there. Andrew has such a great sense of humor. He has Ted and Wacky's talent at OTL down to a science. His comments are not only funny (sorry guys) but true.I have no words of wisdom or encouragement. This whole thing is shitty. With that I'll sign off. My love to Jen and you.
