I just have to make 3 clarifications to what people have posted:
- Many people are thinking singing "since you've been gone" to someone going through cancer is insensitive, but we have to assume Danny is referring to the cancer being gone.
- Breanne came through clutch and seems to be hipper than her sisters. We also have to view her choosing a band called "The Killers" as appropriate if we think about that referring to the chemo and radiation being cancer killers.
- If you think I am going to download a song with both the words "Regan" and "sucks" in the title then you might as well go renew your WNBA season tickets.
Below are a sample of the lyrics:
Well, you build it up, you wreck it down
You burn your mansion to the ground
When theres nothing left to keep you here, when
Youre falling behind in this
Big blue world
Oh you go to
Hold on, hold on
You got to hold on
Take my hand, I'm standing right here
You got to hold on
Down by the riverside motel,
Its 10 below and falling
By a 99 cent store she closed her eyes
And started swaying
But its so hard to dance that way
When its cold and theres no music
Well your old hometown is so far away
But, inside your head theres a record
Thats playing, a song called
Hold on, hold on
You really got to hold on
Take my hand, I'm standing right here
And just hold on.

steve i knew you wouldnt be happy with the NoFX "regan sucks" but its a classic and you cant argue with fat mike! As for the wnba comment didnt appreciate it! see you soon!
Steve,
Thank you for keeping everyone up to date on treatments and progress. You are about to complete the second week...Yeah! Keep up the good work.
I won't suggest any songs, because some of my favorites of my generation may bring on another headache!
As for the headache theory..I think you have ben exposed to way too many political commercials on TV and radio..they would give any one a headache.
Greg and I send more love and prayers your way.
L'Jeane Fairbourn
PS I meant to say "been" exposed not ben....sorry
Steven, I was racking my brains trying to remember you doing dishes in the kitchen. I can vaguely come up with you and Jenny laughing at the sink on one or two occassions. She's definately been a good influence on you. Not that you weren't already practically perfect...but dishes? I won't bug you when you're down, but as soon as you kick this thing I'm handing you a dishtowel. Mom
Apparently I am not very bright. Sorry for the poor song selection. I penalize myself and should be awarded no points.
A memory of Steve doing dishes? I wish I had one of those.
This blog was a great idea. Hang in there, man.
Dom
Steven, I think you should play "Tell Me Something Good" by Chaka Khan the next time you visit your oncologist. Then for inspiration, go home and listen to "One" by U2 and think of us, thinking of you. We are thinking, hoping, loving, wishing and praying......
Your family on the East Coast
Steve,
I'm shocked! Don't you do dishes for everyone? Were you trying to impress me?
Joan
Hi there Steve,
Thinking of you often. As far as songs go, Ellie suggests a Boy Named Sue.... no good reason, just a catchy tune. And yes, we have shamelessly downloaded all the CDs you guys burned for us onto out I-POD. Johnny Cash is definately Ellie's favorite.
And I had no idea what you all were doing in the Montgomery backyard.
Paula and Ellie
thanks for the recognition, Steve! it's about time that someone realizes how much cooler than my sisters I am! :) And, of course, I was sending positive thoughts all the way with the killers' songs. You're an inspiration to us all and I hope that you know that. Thank you for being so strong,
Breanne
I have to admit that, at least when it comes to music, Breanne is the expert. Steve, I have not forgotten the mission you assigned to us; I just wanted to put some thought into my contributions. On that note, here are my two suggestions:
1. Little Black Back Pack by Stroke 9 – I know, probably not a song you imagine me listening to, but it really puts me in the fighting mood.
2. Shimmer by Shawn Mullins – This one is kind of touchy-feely but a winner. I used to blare it in my car after our track meets on our way to Burger King. I’m sure everyone on 7th street appreciated it.
My dad also wanted me to post Led Zeppelin’s “In the Light.” Just insert, “friend” when he says, “baby” or, “honey.” That should help it seem a little less creepy!
Keep up the fight Steve! We are all praying for you!
“I can endure more pain than anyone you've ever met. That's why I can beat anyone I've ever met.” - Prefontaine
Ok, last night Ryan and I were eating dinner and the song Kryptonite came on by...he wouldn't tell me so he could recommend it before me. Willie Jones, Steven's sophomore year cross country coach, called him Superman(os). It must've been the year that song was out. It always reminds me of your strength and ability to endure long painful uphill climbs through those mountains. Two weeks down. See you this weekend. Mom
well said mudgey.
It was three doors down who sings it, but I am already beat.
It was so wonderful to be down in Tucson with you this week. It was dreadfully cold (especially when Tom and I got our shoes completely wet on our run in Sabino Canyon) but, as we've said to each other time and time again, Arizona is such a beautiful state. One song I was thinking of was "Do you Believe?" By the Beatnuts. I remember disturbing the peace in your dorm room at SU, drinking Sheaf, Australia's finest stout.
One thing I really want to do (other than winning our rematch against the mighty Ranier) is to run a marathon with you. Maybe Ave. of Giants? Well, I believe my maternal unit is going up today to visit you guys. Hope you can get out for a long walk. Hope the Cats and Devils can both take care of business tonight. Never thought I'd feel anything but malice toward the Mildcats, but in the words of Ms. McKay, "Gordon, PLEASE! It's a game!
p.s. Connie, great call on Chaka Khan!
im so bummed i have to work this weekend and that i couldnt come up with my mom and ames. although it probably decreases the chances of another car accident which is good i guess. i really miss eating soup and watching the office with you and jen...almost as much as i miss la bandera. love you cousin.
I don't know how we all could have missed it, but "You are the Sunshine of My Life', if no other reason than the artist's name - Stevie Wonder.
Hey Steven,
This is the computer wizard again. Hope this week is going better. Haven't talked to your mom or dad and i'm hoping no news is good news. Did you see Grif's movie. Lynn and i laughed til we couldn't catch our breath. Do you still have a relationship with peggy or is your mouth letting you eat? hope to get to tucson soon, but will check with you to see if you are feeling up to it. Have to cut this short. Have to be at the Y by 4:20. keep fighting.
love u.
